Many people are not aware of the changing technology that is impacting dentistry. One breakthrough instrument, called CEREC, allows our dentist to quickly restore teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings in one appointment. We no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a dental lab. This eliminates the traditional second visit.

CEREC uses CAD/CAM (computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. Our dentist uses a particular camera to take an accurate picture displayed on a color computer monitor, where he uses the CAD technology to design the restoration. The CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while our patient waits. Finally, we bond the new restoration to the tooth.
